Serapan Nathan is the sixth president of Singapore and the second elected president. 1924 was born in an Indian family in Singapore on July 3rd, and 1954 graduated from the Sociology Department of the University of Malaya (now the National University of Singapore). Nathan joined the Singapore government on 1955 and became Singapore's ambassador to the United States from 1990 to 1996.
