What is the difference between Wuhan and Shanghai?

Wuhan and Shanghai are both relatively good big cities in China. There is indeed a certain gap between Wuhan and Shanghai in terms of economic development and social development. There are several main reasons:

First, there is a gap between Shanghai and Wuhan in population quality, mainly in education. Shanghai, as one of the advanced megacities in China, is absolutely harsh in talent introduction, while a considerable number of migrants in Wuhan have low academic qualifications. However, with the establishment of key projects such as Optics Valley, Wuhan pays more attention to talent introduction.

Second, Shanghai has its own unique cultural background, while Wuhan is more like a city of immigrants. Wuhan's culture is diverse and inclusive. Both the old Shanghai and the new Shanghai have a large proportion of migrants, so Shanghai's local culture is more compatible with foreign countries and more international.

Third, the gap between Shanghai and Wuhan lies in the economic aspect. Shanghai became a world-class metropolis in modern times, even the largest city in Asia, and its status is unshakable so far. Wuhan's economic accumulation is far less than that of Shanghai, with an economic gap of at least 20 years.

Fourth, Shanghai leads the country in infrastructure construction. Shanghai is the largest port and financial center in China, and has been expanding the scale of the financial center. Wuhan is not a financial center. With the construction of national key megacities, the unique geographical location of Wu Hanyou, the construction of light rail, subway and three-dimensional traffic planning, the construction of spiritual civilization, and the investment in key projects and regions, Wuhan is developing its own economic characteristics, and there is no conflict between them.

Fifth, Shanghai is a coastal city with a good geographical position, which is Shanghai's unique advantage. Wuhan has no advantage in this respect. Wuhan has convenient road traffic and belongs to the central plains hub.

From the above points, we can see where the gap between Shanghai and Wuhan is. Of course, Wuhan's economy is catching up with Shanghai at present, but the gap still exists. Wuhan in the future is a new weather vane for China's economic construction, and I believe it will get better and better, and so will Shanghai.
