Fengdu Temple Fair will be held from April 22nd to May 3rd, 2023.

During the Fengdu Temple Fair, national intangible cultural heritage, folk cultural activities and Taoist culture will be staged. Citizens can also enjoy various cultural and entertainment programs such as drama, dance, juggling and storytelling, enjoy murals and sculptures of famous mountains, visit temples and ancestral temples where Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism coexist, and see folk skills displayed in the streets and lanes, such as grimace paintings, vein paintings and bamboo mats. And watch the original ecological dance performances such as god inspiration and ghost face dance.

Fengdu Temple Fair is held in Chenglong Street, Jiefu Street, Xiaoguanshan Scenic Area, Mingshan Scenic Area, Zhongheng Stadium, County Gymnasium, Longhe National Wetland Park, Immigration Square, Longcheng Tianjie, Longcheng Xiang Jie Food Street and the south gate of Chaohua Park in Fengdu County.

The Inheritance and Evolution of Fengdu Temple Fair

Incubation period: This period includes from ancient times to the Southern Song Dynasty. The evolution of folk beliefs in Fengdu during this period created conditions for the birth of temple fairs.

Formation period: The development of Fengdu history in Ming Dynasty prepared sufficient conditions for the formation of Fengdu Temple Fair. After the mid-Ming Dynasty, folk temple fairs in Sichuan mushroomed and blossomed everywhere, showing a vigorous development trend. With the rise of local gentry in Fengdu, Fengdu Temple Fair, with Pingdu Mountain as the sacrificial place and Yan Luowang as the main god, has increasingly become an influential local folk cultural activity.

Heyday: During the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, the changes in the pattern of temples and gods in Pingdu Mountain helped Fengdu Temple Fair to become increasingly prosperous.

Stagnation: After entering the Republic of China, the Sichuan War continued year after year, and the social environment was turbulent, which hindered the rising momentum of foreign Fuxiang Society.

Renaissance: During 1988, Fengdu held the "First Ghost Town Temple Fair" since the founding of the People's Republic of China, which is scheduled to be held on the third day of the third lunar month and has been held for 23 times.
