Some tourists will ask: Why is it called Dongtou? Where is the hole? Here's a little story. In the Qing Dynasty, a Fujian fishing boat went to Dongtouyang for production. When a bucket was used to draw water to brush the deck near Xiandie Rock, the rope of the bucket broke and the bucket was swept away by the waves. When the fishing boat was circling a depression at the northeast end of the island, it accidentally found a bucket (also called a pot bucket) floating on the sea. They guessed that the bucket must have been caught in the sea hole at that time, and the sea hole has been connected to this mouth. So the place where the bucket falls is called the hole head, and the purline that the bucket floats up is called the hole tail (now the tongqiao tail).

Since the Southern Song Dynasty, military camps have been set up in Dongtou Islands in various dynasties, and the ruins of bonfire docks built on several hills still exist. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, Zheng Chenggong led his army from Xiamen to the north to fight against the Qing Dynasty.
