About going to study in America after graduation. International students studying in the United States are generally F 1 visas. F 1 visa can only work legally in the school during the study period. If you want to graduate and work in the United States, you must have a company transfer visa to H 1. According to the US Immigration Bureau, students with F- 1 visa can only get 12 months OPT (optional practical training) for each degree, during which they can legally stay in the United States to find a job. However, you are only eligible to apply if your F- 1 status has been completed for 9 consecutive months. If you study full-time in another capacity (not F- 1 visa), then the study time can be counted in the above-mentioned 9-month period. International students usually have OPT for one year after graduation, but some students majoring in science, technology, engineering and mathematics can apply to extend the OPT period by an additional 65,438+07 months. This period is the legal working time for F 1 international students in the United States, so students can try their best to find opportunities to stay in the United States.
Finally, I would like to remind you that the OPT application must be submitted 90 days before the completion of your studies to 60 days after the completion of your studies, and it will take about 60-90 days for the Immigration Department to process it. After getting OPT, students can't be unemployed for more than 90 days. If you don't find a job within 90 days, your OPT will be invalid. Once you find a job within 90 days, you must submit the information about your employer to DHS (Department of Homeland Security).
