Culture in the northeastern United States

The cultural composition of the Northeast is slightly different from that of other parts of the United States, and it is not so simple. Most people in the southern United States are Puritans, but most residents in the northeastern half of the state believe in Catholicism, and Rhode Island is the state with the highest density of Catholics in the United States. Besides Catholicism, there are many other religions in Northeast China. For example, there are quite a few Jews in new york, while New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Maryland all have large Jewish populations.

Northeast China was the first major city suburbanization area in the United States after World War II, but so far, many cities in Northeast China still have very strong urban characteristics of densely populated areas. The problem of over-development of suburbs can be traced back to the long-term dependence of American society on cars and the public's neglect of mass transit systems. In order to cope with the traffic congestion caused by the rapid population growth in this area, the state government has built the Hudson-Bergen light rail system, which is connected with the underground river-crossing railway path of the New Zealand Airport Authority and the railway and bus system of the New Jersey Rapid Transit Company to form a regional transportation network, connecting the whole northern and coastal areas of New Jersey with new york City, and there are plans to extend the light rail to Staten Island in the future. Although the northeast has been highly urbanized and suburbanized, there are still many areas with strong rural characteristics except the metropolitan area near Interstate 95. Most of northern new york, even as far south as Westchester County, still belongs to rural areas. Suffolk County at the eastern end of Long Island and Finger Lake District in upstate New York have some famous wineries.
