The origin of Leizhou dialect

Leizhou dialect, traced back to its roots, is a kind of Fujian language family. According to relevant historical records, the Han nationality in the Central Plains branched into several groups from the Qin, Han, Tang, Song, Yuan and Ming dynasties, and then moved to Leizhou Peninsula.

As early as the early Qin Dynasty (22 BC1year), a group of Putian ancestors moved to Leizhou Peninsula, and in the sixth year of Handing (BC 1 165438), Leizhou dialect took shape in Leicheng today. In the Southern Song Dynasty, due to the war, Putian ancestors moved into Leizhou Peninsula in large numbers. Ancestors lived here, widely spread the culture of China and Fujian in Leizhou, and gradually became Leizhou dialect. Leizhou dialect in Leizhou City is the orthographic representative of Leizhou dialect, because Leicheng has long been the political, economic and cultural center of Leizhou Peninsula.

At present, there are Leizhou Dialect Phonetic Vocabulary, Leizhou Dialect Dictionary, Leizhou Dialect Chronology and Leizhou Dialect Dictionary.

Leizhou dialect, Putian dialect, Hainan dialect and Chaozhou dialect belong to the "sister language family" and are the representative dialects of Minnan language family.

Leizhou dialect began in the Qin and Han dynasties, and gradually merged with Minnan dialect and Putonghua by Han people who entered Guangdong, forming a localized language.

Leizhou dialect has 17 initials, 47 finals and 8 tones, and has unique phonetic, lexical and grammatical norms. Its vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar have gradually changed from mother tongue and sister language, and have penetrated into the local language of Leizhou Peninsula.
