The Historical Evolution of Baguazhou Street

The history of the formation of Baguazhou can be traced back to the Southern Song Dynasty. According to textual research, Huangtiandang, the ancient battlefield of the famous anti-gold campaign in the Southern Song Dynasty, is located in the lower reaches of Qingzhou (the prototype of Baguazhou), and today Baguazhou evolved from Qingzhou in the Southern Song Dynasty.

In the 23rd year of Qing Emperor Kangxi (1684), sporadic immigrants began to live in the southwest corner of Baguazhou (formerly known as Qilizhou), and in the 51st year of Qing Emperor Kangxi (17 12), villagers began to reclaim land on the mainland.

According to Baguazhou's Monument to Villagers' Uprising, in the fifty-eighth year of Kangxi (17 18), this place was under the jurisdiction of Shangyuan County (now Nanjing), indicating that Baguazhou and its residents had been included in the household registration management of the government at that time.

In the 16th year of Qing Qianlong (175 1), Emperor Qianlong boarded Yanziji, and wrote a poem entitled "Only when I was happy, the sand turned into a green field, and the kitchen smoke village plowed for a long time", in which "green field" refers to Baguazhou, and "kitchen smoke village plowed" shows that a considerable number of villagers lived in Baguazhou at that time. Because it looks like straw sandals, it was once called straw sandals island. By the end of the Qing Dynasty, due to the merger with another Qilizhou, it gradually became a kind of gossip, and it is even more famous today.

According to research, the name of Baguazhou has a history of more than 300 years. There are two opinions about the origin of the name of Baguazhou: one is named after the shape of "Bagua"; There is also "Ming Taizu's Ma Huanghou lost the gossip jade in the middle of the river, which formed the gossip island" (a folk legend circulating on gossip island).

In the 16th year of the Republic of China (1927), after the establishment of the National Government, Baguazhou became the urban area of Nanjing. At that time, there were more than 3,000 banners in Nanjing, and Baguazhou was the land cultivated by banners. Later, a large number of poor people from Wuwei, Anhui Province and Pixian County, Jiangsu Province moved to Baguazhou, and Baguazhou, where reeds were everywhere, became the place where they cultivated and settled.

1April 23, 949, Nanjing was liberated, and Baguazhou belonged to the eighth district of Nanjing. The whole continent is divided into five towns: Shangba, Zhongqiao, Xiaba, Li Xun and Qili. 1952 was placed under the jurisdiction of Liuhe County, and Baguazhou District was established, with five original towns.

1956 returned to Nanjing and belonged to Yanziji District. The original five townships were merged into three townships: Shangba, Xiaba and Qili. 1958 10 was placed in the suburbs of Nanjing, and the original three townships merged to form the Baguazhou People's Commune; 1960 was included in Xiaguan District of Nanjing.

1961May was incorporated into Pukou District of Nanjing; July 1962, assigned to Yanziji District, Nanjing; July 1963, in Qixia District, Nanjing. Baguazhou was divided into five people's communes, namely, Shangba, Zhongqiao, Xiaba, Li Xun and Qili, and merged into one people's commune in May 1965.

1June 983 baguazhou people's commune was changed to baguazhou township; In 2002, Baguazhou Township was changed to Baguazhou Town with 12 administrative villages.

On May 16, 2005, with the approval of the provincial government, Baguazhou Town was abolished and Baguazhou Street was established.

On May 27th, 20 12, the street division of Baguazhou was adjusted, and the original 13 villages (communities) were adjusted and merged into 8. Adjust and merge Qili Village and Changjiang Village to form a new Qili Village, and the office is located in the original Qili Village Department; Merge Datong Village and Shangba Village to form a new Shangba Village, and the office is located in the former Datong Village Department; Combine Xiaba Village and Guangming Village to form a new Xiaba Village, and the office is located in the original Xiaba Village Department; Merge Yongning Village and Zhongqiao Village, and merge the groups of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 12 on the south bank of Beijiaojiang in May 4th Village to form a new Zhongqiao Village, with its office located in the former Yongning Village Department; South 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 1 1 of the May 4th Village were combined into Xinzha Village, and its office was located in the former Xinzha Village Department.
