Are Chinese Singaporeans from China?

It should be said that judging from the total number of Chinese in the world, Malaysia is the country with the largest number of Chinese, with about 7 million Chinese and 3.42 million Chinese in Singapore.

In proportion, Chinese in Singapore account for about 75% of the total population. The difference is that the official languages of Singapore are English (ranked first) and Chinese (ranked third).

So some Chinese in Singapore can only speak English, but can't understand Chinese. This is because all Chinese in Singapore are bilingual. This kind of bilingual teaching focuses on English, supplemented by Chinese. It is estimated that the level of bilingual teaching is the level of Chinese in our primary school. In the1980s, Singapore was ordered by then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew to close Nanyang University (with Chinese as the medium of instruction), and the Chinese language school was also closed, so that Chinese was only kept as a subject. Now, this effect has lasted for decades, and the Chinese level of Singaporeans is only the level of daily conversation.
