The history of Donghe Village

In the first year of the Yuan Dynasty of Donghe Village (1341), Ye Heng, the Yuyao Prefecture magistrate, led his people to build a large ancient pond. After it was replaced with a stone embankment, immigrants surnamed Zhou from Henan gathered here to settle for fishing and reclamation, and the village began to exist. In the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, it belonged to Xiaoyi Township, Yuyao County. In the first year of Xuantong in the Qing Dynasty (1909), it belonged to Yisan Township.

It belonged to Zhouxiang Town in 1930, and became the fifth village of Zhouxiang Town in May 1949.

In October 1954, it was placed under Cixi County and successively became the May 4th Agricultural Production Cooperative of Zhouxiang Town, the Minfeng Senior Cooperative and the Zhouzhong Production Team of the newly built management area.

In May 1961, it was separated from the Zhouzhong Brigade of the New People's Commune and was called the Dongheyan Brigade.

It belonged to the Xinxin People’s Commune in 1966.

In 1970, it belonged to the People's Commune of Zhouhang Town.

In April 1971, he joined the Donghe Brigade of Zhouhang Town.

In July 1981, Zhouhang Town was renamed Zhouxiang Town.

In September 1983, it was renamed Donghe Village.

In 1992, the village had 72 households, 222 people, 128.6 acres of cultivated land, and 1 village-run enterprise.

There has been no gambling for 16 consecutive years since 1977.

In 1988, it was rated as a civilized village in Cixi City.

In 1992, the whole village reached the level of moderate prosperity.
