How do American immigrants view children's school choice?

Old immigrants like schools with many Asians.

Mr. Wu is an engineer. He grew up in America and went to a public school. He is full of confidence in the American public university system. Moreover, he and Ms. Chen have different views, and he feels very relieved to see schools with many Asians. Mr. Wu said that because of his childhood experience, he thought that as long as children were with Asians at school, they would generally not go astray, and they would play with Asian classmates since childhood, because Asians were filial and would not do many out-of-line things. The biggest fear is that children make bad friends at school and go astray, so they are more assured that children will go to school with many Asians.

Mr Wu moved to Xi Rui four years ago, most of whom were Asians. He thinks the school district here is good, there are many Asians, and it is easier for children to make friends, which is very suitable for ordinary families.

Is it good to have a school with many Asians?

Ms. Zhang's two daughters are studying in the ABC school district in Xiruidu, and now they have graduated from high school. She learned a lot about this school from her daughter. She said that although the schools in Xiruidu are all good, there are still differences, especially in primary schools. Many parents in China don't want to send their children to primary schools with more Hispanics or whites. I don't know why, maybe they think that children of these ethnic groups like to play and are afraid that children will learn from them, so they all like to go to schools with many Asians.

She feels bad herself. Isn't multiculturalism necessary? It is not a good thing for children to play only with children of their own race. Ms. Zhang said that even though all the schools are Asian, according to her daughter, there are still many small groups. The ABC we are talking about is a group of American-born China people, a group of children of new immigrants from China, a group of Koreans and a group of Filipino children. They seldom play together, they all play by themselves. This situation has always existed, and so has the Asian group, and it is relatively close.

New immigrants hope to see more American children.

Like many Chinese who have just immigrated from China, Ms. Chen is full of expectations for education in American public schools, for her children to receive American-style education and play with American children. In order to send her children to a good school, she looked around, hoping to buy a house in a good school district and let her children receive a good education. However, she walked around the good schools in San Gabriel Valley favored by Chinese people and found that most of the public schools in these good school districts, such as Acadia and Temple City, were Asian children, and most of them were Chinese children.

Ms. Chen said that this is not what I expected. We want to see more American children. What's the difference between going to such a school and attending an international school at home? Children are not exposed to real American culture. Therefore, in order to attend a more mainstream school district, Ms. Chen bought a house in Beverly Hills, making her feel that her children have more contact with Americans, and the school district is not bad.

For parents, we can only try to provide them with a good environment and appropriate guidance. As for their own development, each child's personality is different, and there may be different situations when they go to college.
