Can I have both an American passport and a Hong Kong permanent identity card?
Of course. Hong Kong defaults to dual citizenship.
Many of my relatives are Hong Kong permanent residents (Hong Kong passports) and American passports.
As long as you don't ask the Hong Kong Immigration Department to cancel your China citizenship and Hong Kong permanent resident status, your Hong Kong status will not change.
So your naturalization in the United States has nothing to do with Hong Kong identity!
