What is Mazu Festival?
The first "Mazu Festival" in China came to a successful conclusion at the Millennium Temple and Mazu Road Baofeng Temple where Buddhist relics were buried.
Mazu Festival is held to commemorate the death 12 18 of Mazu Yi Dao, a famous Buddhist Zen master in China in the Tang Dynasty, to inherit the spirit of Mazu and carry forward the Buddhist Zen culture. More than 1000 believers from Hong Kong, Nanchang, Anyi and Fengxin attended the Mazu Festival.
Mazu, common name Ma, monk. Tang Jinglong was born in Shifang, Hanzhou, Sichuan in the third year (AD 709). A teenager became a monk by Yuan, a lawyer from Yuzhou (now Chongqing). During the Kaiyuan period, he left Sichuan to study Zen in Nanyue, Hunan 10. After that, he traveled all over the country and promoted Zen in Fujian and Jiangxi. When I lived in Kaiyun Temple in Nanchang during the Tang Dynasty, scholars from all directions gathered under my command, full of Zen. "Mazu built the jungle", his teachings played a great role in the development of Zen in China and enjoyed a high reputation in the history of Buddhism in China.
