Australian immigration application process

After getting a green card, you can apply for Australian citizenship if you meet certain conditions. Residence requirements to be met when applying for naturalization: legal residence in Australia for 4 years within 5 years before application; Hold Australian green card 1 year or more.

There are three main steps to apply for naturalization in Australia: application, interview and naturalization ceremony.

1. Application: Applicants can download the nationality application form online. Fill it out and send the application form and necessary information to the nationality office.

2. Interview: Applicants with more than 16 must attend the interview. The idea of the interview is to confirm that you know the rights and obligations of Australian citizens and can use simple English (applicants over 50 don't need to meet this requirement)

3. Ceremony: After the interview is passed, you will generally receive a notice within two months to attend the citizenship certificate issuing ceremony at the designated time and place. At the ceremony, the applicant will take the oath of naturalization and obtain an Australian citizenship certificate.

With a citizenship card, you can get an Australian passport within 2 weeks. With an Australian passport, you can go to 167 countries without a visa, which is very convenient for business and tourism. It should be noted that: unlike immigration application, one person applies and the whole family immigrates together. Naturalization requires everyone to apply separately, not the whole family.
