Who is your favorite Hollywood director?

My favorite Hollywood director is Christopher Nolan.

I like him for several reasons.

First of all, Nolan is not a prolific director. From 1999' s Follow to 20 17' s Dunkirk, Nolan only made 10 movies in 18, but each one was excellent and never missed. It can be said that Nolan has always been in awe of movies and audiences, and will not fool people with mediocre movies. This creative attitude deserves respect.

Secondly, Nolan's films have excellent scripts, such as multiple dreams in Inception, Interstellar's interpretation of sci-fi elements, brain burning in Memento and so on. A solid script makes the film unforgettable.

Thirdly, there have always been successful characterization in his films, and the clown in The Dark Knight is the most typical one, which can be said to be a classic on the screen. In addition, his control of the film atmosphere is also master-level, such as the tension and suffocation in Dunkirk air combat.

Fourth, Nolan has mastered the top technology in the film industry. Batman series, Inception and Star Trek are all big productions. Nolan doesn't like to use special effects, so no one can match him in setting scenes and using props. He is also one of the few directors in Hollywood who can apply IMAX cameras to the extreme. Dunkirk even put an IMAX camera on the plane and took pictures in the air.

Most directors are good at it, but few directors can be "all-around" like Nolan, so they are also looking forward to Tenet, which will be released in 2020.
