In 1889, the North American Christian Baptist Church set up a clinic in Yibin to start practicing medicine, and in 1916, Rende Men's Hospital and Mingde Women's Hospital were established. In 1948, the two hospitals merged into North American Baptist Hospital with 9 beds. In September 1951, the people's government took over the hospital and renamed it the Third People's Hospital of South Sichuan. At the end of 1952, Sichuan was established as a province, and the hospital was renamed the Second People's Hospital of Yibin District.

In p>1945, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Health set up Yibin County Central Health Center. In 1946, Yibin County Central Health Center received more than 3 people from Tongji University and Xijiao Hospital affiliated to Tongji University, and the number of beds increased to 6; In 1952, Yibin City was established in Yibin District, and the central health center was renamed Yibin People's Hospital. In June 1954, Yibin People's Hospital was merged into Yibin Second People's Hospital.
