What is the current population situation in China?

The current population situation in China is: aging population, low birth rate, low mortality rate, large population base, high proportion of disabled people and unreasonable urban and rural structure.

The relevant person in charge of the National Population and Family Planning Commission recently revealed that China's population development strategy research will focus on the following aspects:

1. Population problem. Make a scientific forecast of the medium and long-term population and its changing trend in the future 10-50 years.

2. Population quality. Focus on studying and formulating comprehensive supporting policies and measures to comprehensively improve the quality of the birth population and labor force, optimize the allocation of human resources, and improve people's quality of life.

3. The population is aging. It is predicted that by 2050, the elderly population will account for more than 1/4 of the total population. We must strengthen the research on the number, structure, regional distribution and changing trend of the elderly population.

4. Sex ratio at birth. To curb the increase of sex ratio at birth, we should intensify research, formulate laws, regulations, policies and measures, treat both the symptoms and root causes, and fundamentally eliminate the obstacles such as systems, mechanisms and concepts that lead to the increase of sex ratio at birth.

5. Floating population and employment. Step up research on the urbanization road that conforms to China's national conditions and is conducive to the maximum transfer of rural surplus labor. Study the influence of the flow direction and flow of floating population on the urban layout and the policies and measures to guide the floating population reasonably. Study the influence of industrial structure adjustment on employment, and put forward policy suggestions for increasing employment through multiple channels. To study and formulate policies, regulations and measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of floating population.

6. Population distribution and carrying capacity of resources and environment. Strengthen the research on the influence of population quantity, distribution, production and consumption patterns on resources and ecological environment capacity, thoroughly study the relationship between the development and utilization of land, grain, fresh water and energy and population, and carry out the feasibility study of population migration, especially ecological migration, in the new period.

7. Population safety and health. At present, it is urgent to put forward policies and measures to deal with population safety and health from two aspects of prevention and control, and establish a rapid response mechanism to ensure national security and people's happiness and health.
