What kind of city is Zunyi?

Zunyi, located in the north of Guizhou Province, China, is the second largest city and prefecture-level city in Guizhou Province.

First, the culture of Zunyi area

The culture of Zunyi area is close to the southwest of Sichuan basin, but it is very different from Chengdu-Chongqing area.

With the Minjiang River as the boundary, Chongqing dialect is spoken in the northeast and Xishu dialect is spoken in the southwest. Zunyi belongs to Xishu dialect, close to Dayi, Chongzhou, Qijiang, Jiangjin and other counties in Sichuan, and quite different from Chengdu, Chongqing, Suining, Nanchong, Dazhou, Guangyuan, Mianyang and Deyang. Chengdu-Chongqing dialect area usually cannot understand and manipulate the language of Xishu dialect area, while the latter can understand and manipulate the former.

Sichuan culture can be roughly divided into these two parts, and Zunyi belongs to the latter.

In addition, Chengdu-Chongqing region has a single culture, only the Han culture, while Zunyi is a multi-culture dominated by the Han nationality.

Zunyi's traditional diet, such as sour pork, Rosa roxburghii, glutinous rice, camellia oleifera, rice noodles, baked tofu and all kinds of Baba, is hard to find in Chengdu-Chongqing area, but it can be found in mountainous areas around Sichuan, especially in Xishu dialect area.

Zunyi also has a large number of Miao, Gelao and other ethnic groups living together, while only Han people live in Chengdu-Chongqing area!

There are Qiang and Tibetan nationalities in the western Sichuan plain, but there is no such plateau nationality in Zunyi, and there are more Baiyue nationalities in the south.

Chengdu-Chongqing area is dominated by dock culture, rice cultivation culture and consumption culture, while Zunyi is dominated by mountain culture.

Chengdu has been a consumer city since ancient times, with developed industry and commerce, and is a famous rice-growing area. Chongqing is dominated by dock culture, and every city in Sichuan has a big river. Zunyi has no dock culture, and the rice planting area is also very small.

Second, the scenery of Zunyi

Zunyi belongs to the northern part of Guizhou Plateau, with an average elevation above 1000m m, which is dominated by karst landforms, limestone, mountains, deep valleys, small basins and peaks, and the scenery is closer to the hinterland of Guizhou.

Chengdu-Chongqing area is located in Sichuan Basin, with an average elevation of 300m m. It is dominated by Danxia landform, red sandstone, shale and conglomerate, and hills, Zhongshan (parallel ravines) and plains.

Everywhere you go in Chengdu-Chongqing area, there are big rivers, with strong quays and rivers, and cities built on water. There is only one small Xiangjiang River and Luojiang River in Zunyi, which does not have navigation conditions. It is also closer to the hinterland of Guizhou.

Chengdu-Chongqing area is dominated by agriculture and densely populated. Zunyi has a high forest coverage and a scattered population, which is close to the hinterland of Guizhou.

Third, Zunyi's thoughts and concepts.

Typical thinking in mountainous agricultural areas. Hard-working, indomitable and willing to work. However, it is also more traditional and conservative, and the patriarchal ideology is still serious. It pursues the traditional nuclear family, likes to have many children and grandchildren, likes to have children and likes to have many children and grandchildren. It is common to see how many babies are born. Women become grandmothers in their forties.

Because of this, individual rights and interests are relatively despised, and post-modern ethics are naturally excluded.

Fourth, the main city of Zunyi

Zunyi is very large, with three municipal districts in the main city. The permanent population in the built-up area is close to 2 million, and the population is between Xining and Lanzhou. It is a second-class big city under the standards of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

Zunyi is very crowded, and people are crowded, because the area is smaller than Lanzhou.

The traffic in Zunyi city is very inconvenient, and the distance between north and south is too long. It's 50 kilometers from Donggong Temple to Nanbai Town, but only buses connect.

Zunyi is very green. There is a national forest park in the center of the city, surrounded by forests.

Zunyi is very hot, although the altitude is high, but the urban area is very hot.

Zunyi eats a lot and is rich in snacks. One of the birthplaces of fruit ice powder (followed by Anshun) mutton powder is delicious. Egg cake, rice skin and bean curd skin are all specialties here.

There are not many cultural relics in Zunyi, but they are all giants. Nearby are Zunyi Conference Site, Catholic Church (former site of Red Army zz Department), Yang Can Tomb, World Heritage Hailong Pier, etc.

To sum up, Zunyi area is closer to Sichuan mountainous area and Xishu dialect area. It is completely different from Chengdu-Chongqing, the most influential core area of Sichuan culture. Zunyi's scenery and products are closer to the hinterland of Guizhou. It is also relatively backward in concept.
