Do new immigrants need to pay taxes on shipping furniture to Singapore?

When new immigrants move furniture to Singapore, the question of tax payment depends on the furniture:

1. As long as it meets the requirements of personal belongings, there is no need to pay customs duties.

Customs stipulates that personal belongings must be owned and used for more than one year. In other words, if the furniture moved in is old, it can be declared as second-hand personal belongings without paying any customs duties.

When new immigrants declare the export of personal belongings, the documents that the owner needs to provide mainly include: passport, valid visa of destination country, list of exported goods (including name, quantity, weight, size and value of goods), power of attorney for customs declaration and power of attorney for consignment (export) of goods.

Immigration abroad: Please bring the original passport, two copies of the entry paper, a list of articles (two in Chinese and one in English), a list of the quantity, volume, marks and estimated weight of the consigned articles, and the consignee (address, telephone number and fax number).

Note: mattresses and wooden materials do not need fumigation, including all other wooden furniture, only logs need fumigation, such as cut wood without any treatment. Otherwise, a fumigation fee will be charged.

2. Furniture that does not meet the requirements of personal belongings needs to pay customs duties and consumption taxes.
