How many states are there in the United States?

The United States is divided into 50 states, 1 special zone (District of Columbia) and 3 143 counties. In addition to California, some states have relatively equal in terms of family income, educational resources and immigration opportunities. Immigrants may get help from local immigrant communities to adapt to the process of naturalization.

1. California

Proportion of foreign born: 27.0% (highest)

Median household income: $52,438 (foreign born) and $66,670 (American born).

Proportion of adults with bachelor's degrees: 26.3% (foreign born) and 34.4% (American born).

In response to the action of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to crack down on illegal immigrants, the California Senate passed a bill in April to strengthen communication between local legal agencies and ICE. California's measures to provide more legal protection for immigrants also make it a unique "asylum state" in the United States.

California has the highest proportion of immigrants in the country (27%), and about one-fifth of green card winners are Californians every year. The only regret is that the income gap between local residents and immigrant residents in California is slightly higher than that in many other States on the list, which is largely dragged down by Mexican immigrant families.
