Sun Tzu's Art of War was first spread abroad in Japan, followed by North Korea. According to "Continued Japanese History", Sun Tzu's Art of War spread to Japan as early as the Tang Dynasty (Nara era in Japan), and it has been 1200 years. Then, how did China's art of war spread to Japan, and by whom? To answer this question, we have to start with the Japanese envoy to the Tang Dynasty. The Tang Dynasty in China was the political, economic and cultural center of East Asia at that time. The neighboring countries sent envoys to pay tribute and sent talents from all walks of life to study in the Tang Dynasty. Among them, Japan sent the most international students and made the greatest academic achievements. For example, the eighth Japanese envoy to the Tang Dynasty went to China in March of July17, and Kibi No Asomi Makibi, a student studying in the Tang Dynasty, was about 20 years old and came from a military family like Captain Youwei. His outstanding talent is manifested in all kinds of practical knowledge, especially in military research. Appreciated Zhao as a teacher and taught himself 17 years. He is not only proficient in the six arts, but also familiar with Sun Tzu's Art of War, especially Sun Tzu's Art of War and Woods' Art of War. He used all the money he got from the Tang Dynasty to buy all kinds of books. "All the books he got were returnees" (The Book Biography of Dongyi Old Tang Dynasty, copied by Zhonghua Book Company). In 734 AD, Kibi No Asomi Makibi returned to China with the fruitful results of listening to the Tang Dynasty 18. He dedicated a large number of books and articles learned, purchased and donated from the Tang Dynasty to his own court. When Kibi No Asomi Makibi returned to China as the Taizai Sauer and Taizai Dahl, he taught the laborers The Art of War, Woods' Art of War and Zhuge Liang's Eight Arrays. There is no doubt that China's ancient art books, including Sun Tzu's Art of War, have spread to Japan through Kibi No Asomi Makibi.

The spread of Sun Tzu's Art of War in Japan began to be copied and read in Chinese, and the Japanese translation of Sun Tzu's Art of War did not appear until AD 1660. During the Tokugawa shogunate, there were more than 50 Japanese scholars who studied Sun Tzu's Art of War, such as Lin Luoshan's Interpretation of Sun Tzu's Proverbs, Fujiyoshi's A Brief Introduction to Sun Tzu, Sasuke Yin Zhong's Guan Li, Yoshida Song Yin's Detailed Notes on Sun Tzu and so on.

The Art of War was first introduced to the West with the French series Military Art of China translated and published by French priest Joseph Amilhau in 1772. This book contains six art books, among which Thirteen Articles of the Art of War by Sun Tzu is the second. In A.D. 1905, the British Catop translated The Art of War into English and published it in Tokyo. In A.D. 19 10, British sinologist Giles translated the world's oldest art book, The Art of War, and published it in London. In A.D. 19 10, Bruno Navarra translated into German and published Jason Wu in China. In modern times, many countries in the world have different versions of the Art of War.
