In science fiction films, we can often see "space cities". These "space cities" are not built on other planets, but in space. Although they are called "cities", they are actually huge super ships with an ecosystem that simulates the earth for people to live in.

Now, the "Space City" in this sci-fi film is very likely to come true in the future, because it is reported that China plans to build a super-large spaceship that can accommodate thousands of people at the same time. I have to say that once it is completed, it will really be a realistic version of "Space City", which is so exciting.

At present, the largest man-made spaceship in space is the International Space Station. Although the space station in China has also started to operate, it is a "small but refined" route in terms of scale, which will not exceed the scale of the International Space Station.

So, how many people can the International Space Station accommodate? As we all know, there are three astronauts working and living in the space station in China. Next month, they will complete a three-month mission and return to Earth.

As the largest artificial spacecraft in space, the International Space Station itself is the product of joint construction by many countries. Therefore, in order to accommodate more astronauts, the International Space Station can accommodate up to 7 astronauts at a time in personnel verification, but generally speaking, it is controlled at around 3-6 people.

From here, we can see that even the largest spacecraft in space at present, the International Space Station is very small, and the living space on it is also very small. So, what is the super-large spacecraft that China plans to build in the future? What's the difference between it and the International Space Station?

It is reported that China plans to build a super-large spacecraft in the future, which will be mainly used for long-term in-orbit stay, as well as various space resources development and scientific research. At present, the planned construction scale will exceed 1000 meters, and the internal space is at least 1000 times that of the International Space Station.

Naturally, the International Space Station can accommodate up to seven people, so once China's super-large spacecraft is built, it will be no problem to accommodate thousands of people, which makes many people excited: the "Space City" belonging to China has come.

It is hard to imagine that the concept of "space city" did not appear recently, but as early as 100 years ago, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, the originator of human space technology and the "father of space" of the former Soviet Union, had put forward the idea of "space city" with great foresight.

Tsiolkovsky believes that with the development of human beings, population explosion is inevitable, and in this process, the earth's resources will be gradually scarce, thus making human beings face a crisis of survival.

If human beings want to continue their civilization, they need to find ways to leave the earth and live in space. Therefore, tsiolkovsky envisioned that when human science and technology developed to a certain stage, human beings could build large spacecraft in space, live in a "space city" by simulating the gravity system and ecosystem of the earth, and achieve "self-sufficiency" in space.

Tsiolkovsky believes that the scale of "Space City" need not be too large. Generally, it can accommodate thousands or tens of thousands of people. In this way, small human settlements can be built in space, and even if some of them have problems, they can still help humans avoid risks to the greatest extent and ensure the endless development of human civilization.

Later, scientists studied "Space City" along tsiolkovsky's train of thought. At present, scientists generally believe that it is completely feasible for human beings to build super-large spacecraft and then live in it. However, what the "space city" will look like needs further study.

Researchers from Princeton University in the United States believe that perhaps human beings can build an umbrella-shaped "space city" around the earth.

Simply put, it's like using the earth as an umbrella handle, then building a huge bracket, distributing several "space cities" on it, and then running around the earth to simulate the living environment of the earth to the maximum extent.

In addition, some researchers believe that "Space City" may be built into a super space carrier. It can be a circular structure, running in space, in which humans divide areas, including living areas, industrial areas, food supply areas and so on. In this way, we can truly realize a fully enclosed "terrestrial ecosystem" in space and truly achieve self-sufficiency.

Once human beings have the ability to go further in the future, we can also take the "Space City" directly for long-distance space travel to our ideal destination.
