Pig has been here.
Pig Bajie is a well-known mythical figure in China. The image of gluttony, lewdness and laziness created by the author in The Journey to the West is deeply rooted in people's hearts. I believe everyone thinks that Pig Bajie only exists in fairy tales! But in Xizhuang village, Yunnan province, the villagers there said that Pig Bajie had really lived here! Xizhuang is a village in Banqiao, Longyang District, Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, which is about 12km away from the urban area. It is surrounded by mountains and waters, with trees and beautiful scenery. More than 300 families and more than 2,000 people have lived here for generations. Xizhuang Village is an important post station on the Southern Silk Road in history, where ancient roads meet, connecting China, Yunnan and ancient Southeast Asia. Building temples, sculpting golden bodies and burning incense for Pig Bajie is probably unique in China except Xizhuang Village. So, what is the connection between Xizhuang Village and Pig Bajie? If the story of Bajie handed down from generation to generation is really like that introduced in The Journey to the West, the place where Pig Bajie lived should be Gaolaozhuang, so is Xizhuang Gaolaozhuang? If so, why is there no one surnamed Gao in Xizhuang Village? According to the old man of Xizhuang Village, Gaolaozhuang in The Journey to the West is the predecessor of Xizhuang Village. As early as a dozen generations ago, there was a legend of Pig Eight Rings in the village. The outline of the story has been circulated for many years, and it is still clear today. Pig Bajie grew up in Zhanyun Cave in Balang Village (now the Sleeping Buddha Cave, 5 km away from Xizhuang Village 1.5). When I was a child, Pig was very naughty. He often arched the earth dam built by villagers for flood control, which gave the village the name of "rotten dam" Later, in order to listen, Lanba Village was changed to "Langba", which is still in use today. As an adult, Pig Bajie took a fancy to Gao Cuilan, the third daughter of a wealthy Gaojia in a neighboring village (Gaolaozhuang, now Xizhuang Village). In order to get close to Gao Cuilan, Pig Bajie often goes to the mountain behind Gao Mansion to cultivate land. When you are tired, jump into the river in the north of the village and take a bath-this river is now the "Bajie River". Whenever passing by the entrance of Gaojia, Pig Bajie always looks for opportunities to chat with Gao Cuilan, and their relationship is long-lasting. At first, Cuilan's parents thought Pig Bajie was "like a pig" and ugly. They didn't agree to this marriage at first, but then their parents saw that Pig was hardworking and kind, and finally agreed. After Gao's adoption, Zhu Bajie and Weaving men and women respected each other as guests. Pig Bajie's arable land is loose and suitable for planting, and its fertility remains undiminished. This place is called "Bajiedi" by the villagers, and the ravine where he has rested is called "Bajieqing". Because the Gaos practiced Buddhism, Zhu Bajie began to practice at home under their influence. A few years later, Gao's parents died, and Pig Bajie became his other wife, traveling with a traveling monk-I didn't expect him to leave and never come back. Later, the villagers rumored that Pig Bajie met a "monk" and was promoted by the monk. In order to commemorate the emergence of a "fairy" in the village, the villagers built a temple to worship his idol. Legend has it that many years later, Gao Cuilan also became a positive fruit, feathering into a fairy. On the second day after her death, a graceful pink peony suddenly grew in front of Bajie Temple. Until now, this peony still blooms every year. When the flowers bloom, people in Xizhuang Village will come to worship and pray. After Zhu Bajie and his death, the descendants of the Gaos did not live in Gaolaozhuang, and the family moved to a village one kilometer southeast of the village (now Wife Xian Village). Since then, the high surname of Gao Laozhuang has disappeared, and the village name has gradually changed to the current "Xizhuang". The prototype of the pig eight quit in reality. So, how did the story of the pig eight quit in Xizhuang Village come into being? In real life, is there a prototype of Pig Bajie? Xizhuang Village is located in the northwest of Guyongchang County (now Baoshan), with its back to the mountains. At that time, when Dai, Gao, Dong Shi and other big families moved from Jiangsu, the virgin forest was dense, wild animals were rampant, and people and animals were endangered, which brought great threats to the new immigrants. In particular, a place called Lanba (later renamed Balang) in the south of Xizhuang Village was originally a river beach extending outward from the valley. When it rains, the flood floods and the sediment rolls and washes away the fields in the village. Mud waves turn up one after another, and from a distance, they look like pigs arching below. Immigrants from the south of the Yangtze River who are used to a rich and quiet life are very afraid of this "evil flood wave" and mistakenly think that all this is caused by the legendary "pig god". Therefore, as soon as the flood in the long summer of the lunar calendar arrives, they pray for the river, hope that the "pig god" will bless the peace, and make a wish: if the pig god does not cause trouble, the villagers can make statues and worship them from generation to generation. Unexpectedly, after praying, this wave dam "quicksand river" really never overflowed again, so the concept of "pig god" worship was deeply rooted in the hearts of immigrants. Legend has it that the immortal who touched the pig and eight quit was also enshrined in the temple. In addition, the temple is also dedicated to the gods of Gao Cuilan and Gao Laotai. 12/2 Next Page
