What is the difference between Minnan dialect in Fujian and Fulao dialect in Shanwei, Guangdong?
Minnan dialect is a large language family, including Fuzhou dialect, Fulao dialect, Chaoshan dialect and so on.
Chaoshan dialect refers to the dialects spoken in Chaozhou, Shantou and Jieyang. Accents vary from place to place, but basically a Shantou has several accents.
There is only a little difference between Shanwei dialect and Haifeng dialect, which is basically the same. Linguists generally believe that Shanwei dialect and Haifeng dialect belong to Fulao dialect, not Chaoshan dialect.
Lufeng dialect is more like Chaoshan dialect, although it is also under the jurisdiction of Shanwei.
