Qian Xuesen's related deeds

Qian Xuesen is a modern scientist in China, a world-famous rocket expert and an expert in engineering cybernetics in China.

In 1930s, Qian Xuesen was an important member of the rocket research group of Guggenheim Aviation Laboratory of California Institute of Technology organized by Carmen. From 65438 to 0943, the research report "Review and Preliminary Analysis of Long-range Rockets" jointly completed by him and F. Marina laid a theoretical foundation for the successful development of surface-to-surface missiles and sounding rockets in the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in the 1940s. These missiles were the pioneers of missiles that later adopted composite propellant rocket engines in the United States. 1949, he also put forward the idea of using rocket-propelled gliders as intercontinental passenger rockets and nuclear rockets.

Qian Xuesen has made many pioneering contributions to the theory of aviation engineering in terms of transonic aerodynamics and thin shell stability theory. The hypersonic flow theory put forward by him and Carmen provides a basis for the aircraft to overcome the sound barrier and thermal barrier, and lays the foundation for the development of aerodynamics. The Carmen-Qian Xuesen formula named after him and Carmen was used in the aerodynamic design of high subsonic aircraft.

Qian Xuesen has done pioneering work in many fields of mechanics. He has made many achievements in aerodynamics, the most prominent of which is the similarity law of transonic flow. Together with Carmen, he put forward the concept of hypersonic flow for the first time, which provided a theoretical basis for aircraft to overcome thermal and sound barriers in the early stage and laid an important theoretical foundation for the development of aerodynamics. The formula used in the design of high subsonic aircraft is Carmen-Qian Xuesen formula, named after Carmen and Qian Xuesen. In addition, Qian Xuesen and Carmen put forward a new nonlinear instability theory of spherical shells and cylindrical shells in the late 1930s. His research on the physical and mechanical properties of rare gases in 1946 is the forerunner of this branch.

Qian Xuesen first put forward an extremely important implementation plan for China to develop rocket and missile technology. 1956 Submitted the Opinions on Establishing China's National Defense Industry to the Government of China, assisted Nie in preparing for the establishment of a leading institution for rocket and missile science and technology research, and was responsible for the preparation of the Fifth Research Institute of the Ministry of National Defense. Since then, he has been in the technical leadership position of rocket, missile and spacecraft development for a long time, and has played a great role in organizing and leading the development of launch vehicles and spacecraft in China by virtue of his rich knowledge in the fields of overall, power, guidance, aerodynamics, structure, materials, computer and quality control. He has made great contributions to the rapid development of China's rocket, missile and space industry.
