Interpretation of nursing specialty in Australian universities
There are five main reasons why more and more overseas nurses transfer to Australia to study for a bachelor's degree in nursing:
1. Overseas registered nurses can apply for exemption from the credits of Australian universities 1 year or 1.5 years, so as to obtain a bachelor's degree in nursing and a registered nurse's license of Australian universities after studying in 1 year or 1.5 years;
2. The Australian Immigration Department has adopted a series of preferential measures for overseas nurses to work and immigrate in Australia: overseas nurses can apply for a four-year work visa as long as they are under 44 years old; Priority will be given when applying for an Australian green card, and the family's green card application for 3-4 months can be approved;
3. More and more overseas nurses realize that coming to Australia is a shortcut with short time, low cost, quick effect and easy employment;
It's getting harder and harder to be a registered nurse in America. As the United States imposes various restrictions on registered nurses from China, India and the Philippines to go to the United States, nurses in these countries often have to wait 3-5 years to queue up for interviews, and visas cannot be guaranteed; After being refused a visa by the United States, they had to transfer to Australia;
5. It is becoming more and more difficult for overseas nurses to apply for a British visa; At the same time, there are more than 10000 overseas nurses in Britain. Although they passed the evaluation of the British Nursing Administration with IELTS score of 6.5, they could not find a hospital for internship in the UK.
Can I qualify as a registered nurse in Australia after obtaining a bachelor's degree in nursing?
Not necessarily, there are four situations:
1. If the degree in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania is a bachelor of nursing (pre-registration), you can directly obtain an Australian registered nurse license after graduation.
Second: if you study for a bachelor's degree in nursing in Western Australia and Queensland, you can only get an Australian registered nurse license if you get an IELTS score of 7 (not less than 6.5 in all parts) after graduation.
Thirdly, if you study bachelor of nursing (conversion program) at Flinders University, you can get bachelor of nursing and registered nurse license after graduation.
Fourth: if you study in other universities, you will get a 1 year nursing bachelor's degree.
Since 2005, nurses & Midwifery Committee has announced that overseas nurses will work in local nurses &; Midwives Board must provide IELTS score of 7 (not less than 6.5 in all parts) when applying for registration. Due to the change of this policy, we do not recommend overseas nurses to go to Curtin, Murdoch, edith cowan, Notre Dame University of Western Australia, University of Southern Queensland and James Cook University of Queensland. Griffith University, Queensland University of Science and Technology, attended the 1 year nursing school to avoid the embarrassment of getting a nursing degree after graduation but not being able to apply for a local registered nurse license.
