Conditions for obtaining a Hong Kong work visa

If your employees are applying for a Hong Kong work permit under the General Employment Policy (GEP), they will need to provide a statement with their application describing your job description. The Immigration Department will assess applications based on the following criteria:

Postgraduate degree

Necessary work experience

Salary and working conditions in line with local standards

Lack of local talent to fill that particular vacancy

Sometimes it is difficult for companies to prove that they cannot find local talent to fill a vacancy, especially is when they recruit from all over the world. Nonetheless, immigration authorities will usually accept the certificate received.

If your employees want to travel to Hong Kong with their families, they will need to meet additional requirements. For example, employees must prove that they have a bona fide marriage and have dependent children under the age of 18. They need to demonstrate that they can financially support a family and provide suitable accommodation. If the spouse also wants to work in Hong Kong, they can also apply for an additional work permit.
