The earliest reliable document recording the introduction of narcissus into China is a passage in the highway section of Beihu Record: "Sun Guangxian continued to note that he was engaged in Jiangling Day, stayed with a stranger Musemi, tasted several narcissus plants, and collected them in water boats, which did not fade after years." Musimi, a Persian living in Gangneung, gave Sun Guangxian some daffodils.

Sun Guangxian was an important poet of Huajian School in the late Tang Dynasty and Five Dynasties.
