What does immigration mean?
Immigration means that citizens of one country go to another country or region for permanent residence through various channels, that is, to settle down. Going abroad to settle down is an international movement of people across national boundaries, also known as immigration or international immigration. It depends on the broad and narrow concepts. Broadly speaking, as long as you change your place of residence, you are an immigrant. Legally speaking, immigrants in some countries mainly refer to countries, and immigrants mainly refer to foreigners. Because some countries are relatively small, domestic migration is of little significance. Some countries pay more attention to the concept of law and stipulate how long they have lived in a place before they can be recognized as immigrants. Obviously, there is a difference between immigrants and floating population. Floating population can refer to a place for traveling, seeing a doctor, seeking a job and doing business. But immigrants pay more attention to living conditions. For example, in our country's last census, people who lived in bars for half a year were registered as floating population. In a narrow sense, immigrants generally specify their place of residence. It is of special significance to emphasize the difference between immigrants and general floating population. The general floating population is unstable, and some of them are only temporary. But both narrow and broad sense of immigration are stable. Immigrants will have a certain sense of belonging to the place where they move in, but floating population may not. It is not very important for the floating population to adapt to the local environment, culture and other conditions, as long as they achieve their own goals. As immigrants, we must adapt to the local language and culture. Of course, there are also some things that I completely think are bad, and I have to find ways to intervene and change them. In this case, if the immigrant is strong, he will transform it and create a new culture with what he thinks is more advanced culture. Going abroad to settle down belongs to the category of international immigration, which refers to permanent residence in another country or region; Short-term residence refers to short-term travel to a country or region, study abroad, visit relatives and friends, etc. For example, both overseas Chinese and foreign Chinese have settled abroad, or are immigrants, while short-term overseas visits to relatives and friends, sightseeing, official visits, and study abroad do not belong to the category of settling abroad. However, if they have obtained the long-term residence certificate of that country or region (such as the green card of the United States), the nature of their so-called short-term residence has changed, and they can also be said to have become foreign settlers.
