Why are there so many Chinese in Vancouver, Canada?

There are historical and practical reasons for this.

Historical reasons: When Canada built the Pacific Railway (the traffic artery connecting eastern Canada and the Pacific coast), it recruited a large number of Chinese workers from China. The final stage of the project is from Rocky Mountain to Vancouver. After the project was completed, many China workers stayed in Vancouver.

Realistic reasons: Vancouver is the closest Canadian city to China and the first city to open direct flights; Vancouver is the only big city in Canada that is not cold in winter. There have been a large number of Chinese living in Vancouver (the Chinese workers of the Pacific Railway mentioned earlier), and China culture (especially food culture) has been formed locally. Therefore, both Hongkong immigrants after 1980 and Chinese mainland immigrants after 1990 prefer to live in Vancouver.
