In addition to today's personalized license plate, the current 92 motor vehicle license plate consists of Chinese and English letters and five digits of the license plate bureau code. For example, "Asu-12345", "Su" stands for Jiangsu Province, and A is the license plate code of Nanjing Public Security Bureau Vehicle Management Office, indicating that this car is the license plate of Nanjing Public Security Bureau Vehicle Management Office. The last five digits are the serial number.

In principle, the five-digit serial number starts from 00000 (starting from 000 1 in some areas, which is not specified below) and ends at 99999. If the number exceeds this number, English letters will be used as the prefix, starting with A0000, then from B0000 to B9999, and so on to Z9999.
