When did SARS happen?

The plague in 2008 was called SARS epidemic.

There was no SARS in China in 2008, but an SARS epidemic occurred in 2003. On June 5438+February 10, 2002, a farmer named Huang Xingchu from Heyuan, Guangdong Province was admitted to the hospital with a fever. He is the first well-documented SARS patient so far, and also the starting point of the virus that was later named SARS by academic circles. From then on, the people of China began an unforgettable day.

Until June 20, 2003, the last batch of 18 SARS patients came out of a SARS hospital in the northern suburb of Beijing, announcing the end of the fight against SARS.

Historical evolution:

SARS first appeared in People's Republic of China (PRC) and Heyuan City, Guangdong Province in 20021early October (the World Health Organization named Shunde, Guangdong as its source). Because the patient had pneumonia, he was classified as SARS at that time.

The disease spread rapidly from Guangdong to Hong Kong through tourism, business and immigration, and then to Vietnam, Singapore, Taiwan Province Province and Toronto. In May 2003, the epidemic situation in Beijing and Hong Kong was the most serious. In June 2003, sporadic cases appeared again in Guangzhou. Since the last suspected case was found in the United States on July 13, there have been no new cases and suspected cases, and the SARS process has basically ended.

In March 2004, a suspected case of severe acute respiratory syndrome was found again in Beijing. It is suspected that some researchers were infected while studying the virus in the laboratory, but none of them evolved into an epidemic again.
