The implicit description of social behavior in the film implies that this is a social tragedy. As an Iranian immigrant, the hero tries to explain to suspicious whites that he is an immigrant with legal status every time he subconsciously protects himself and his family. This film is another tragedy after "Mysterious River" this year, a story that everyone is not happy about, but at the beginning of this story, some people hold hope. I tried to guess the tragic ending of the film. When the fog hovers around the house like a ghost, there is always a depressing force in the movie, and we can easily foresee that the shadow is slowly approaching our heads. However, the result of everyone's death still makes my heart sink to the end in an instant. I thought it would break my heart, but in fact, when Catherine, who was at the bottom of the screen, curled up helplessly in the corner of the bed of the Bihani couple, my nose seemed to have suffered a heavy blow, and anger, sadness and shock filled my mind instantly. This kind of unfounded anger is the worst, because I don't know who is to blame for this movie. In my opinion, from the beginning of the film, no one did anything completely wrong in the whole incident: Catherine refused to let go of her only physical and spiritual home in the hopeless pain of life, just like a weak straw caught by a drowning person; Mesad has selfish ideas about buying a house, but he is just an ordinary Iranian who wants his wife and children to live happily in the United States. Even Lester, the policeman who directly led to the tragedy, is not a bad person. He suffered all day in his failed marriage, but he wanted to get temporary comfort by helping Catherine get her house back. They just want to get out of the dense fog of this life, but when an individual will step out of the safe boundary a little at a certain moment, it will cause an irreparable tragedy.

Wantim Piriman, a 40-year-old Russian writer and director, not only makes us feel the pain of the people in the play, but also hopes that we can see the tragic road hidden somewhere. Although, on the surface, the struggle for housing has touched many social behaviors, and the feelings of the characters are even worse than those in Mysterious River, we seem to see deeper social contradictions through the complicated and inevitable role relations and contradictions in this simple accident, but the director is obviously not angry, and he accumulates this tragedy bit by bit with the narrative of the story. We seem to have seen the characters in the dark step by step down the unfathomable cliff. At first, we thought it was just a wet shallow well. They came out and shook their sleeves, leaving only traces of different shades. However, I didn't know that there was a deep pool of wind and fog lurking under the cliff. They approached and descended inch by inch, and there were several thousands of feet waters and hundreds of layers of fog in the pool.

As a director's first film, he moved people mainly by sad stories and narratives. Although there is no ambition in vision, there is a conscious parallel processing of the characters' behavior: the hero Mesad pushes the door into the brightly lit house, and then the camera cuts to the heroine Cathy pushing away the dusty hut in the forest. He has been trying to tell the audience the potential connection between their helpless hearts by comparing two characters in completely different situations and two environments with great color contrast: when Mesad moved into Catherine's old home, the camera often showed him in a bright and warm home in the middle of the night, while Catherine was alone in a dark and narrow car. However, the film is called House of Dust and Fog. By the end of the film, the fog around the house is getting deeper and deeper. At first, the dense clouds that appeared many times in the sky have turned into entangled fog, and even the face of the house can't be seen clearly. The fog and cold wind completely blurred the difference between Merced and Catherine's situation, as if suggesting that no one could break through. The piano, which was depressed at first, and the music as thick as haze were extremely successful in artistic effect.

Home in the Dust and Fog is another tragic masterpiece this year. The Focus Plane, which was not seen by the director, tells the story of an ordinary person's accidental life reversal, and his sadness spread step by step and accumulated bit by bit. If "The Mysterious River" is at the mercy of fate, then "House of Dust and Fog" is a detailed expression of social contradictions, which is equally embarrassing.
