Shenzhen is now an immigrant city. What is the local culture? Many people in the city speak Cantonese. Are the locals from Guangfu?

There are two kinds of Shenzhen natives, Weitou (Cantonese) and Hakka. Shenzhen itself is at the junction of Guangdong and Hakka.

So there are two local dialects, Cantonese Weitou dialect and Hakka dialect.

Weitou dialect belongs to Cantonese Wanbao film, which is similar to Guangzhou dialect and Dongguan accent. Mainly distributed in Futian, Luohu, Nanshan and Baoan. Futian and Luohu in the urban area are precisely the sites of Weitou people. Weitou dialect is Cantonese native to Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and the aborigines in the New Territories of Hong Kong also speak Weitou dialect. Cantonese spoken in Hong Kong now belongs to a branch of Cantonese, which was brought there by Guangdong immigrants.

Shenzhen Hakka dialect is Huiyang accent, mainly distributed in Longgang, Longhua and Yantian.

In addition, before 1957, Guangfu Weitou people in Baoan County, the predecessor of Shenzhen, accounted for the vast majority of residents. But now the main settlement of Hakka people-Longgang District-still belongs to Huiyang County in the 1950s, not Baoan County. Guanlan Town, another Hakka settlement, is also under the jurisdiction of Dongguan. Hakkas moved from Xingmei and Guishan to their present settlements during the reign of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty.

But Shenzhen is a city with a majority of immigrants, and the dominant language is Mandarin. In Shenzhen, Cantonese can only be said to be an influential language besides Mandarin.
