Band of Seven is a Hong Kong film with a rating of 7.7. This is an inspirational film jointly directed by seven famous directors: Sammo Hung, Xu Anhua, Tan Jiaming, Yuan Heping, Du Qifeng, Lin Lingdong and Tsui Hark.

Analysis of seven stories

The first story, Kung Fu, was directed by teacher Sammo Hung. Many places in the film are the real experiences of teacher Sammo Hung practicing martial arts in Hong Kong. He and seven other disciples, such as Jackie Chan, Yuan Wah, Yuan Kui and Yuan Biao, practiced kung fu under the strict supervision of Master Yu Zhanyuan. The third story, Night of Farewell, was directed by Teacher Tan Jiaming. The film mainly tells the love story that a young couple in Hong Kong was forced to leave in the 1980s under the historical background of "immigration tide". Because the woman's family emigrated overseas, she had to face the choice of staying or staying.

In the film, two lovers interweave sweet words with poems, photos and love songs on the eve of parting. At dawn, they will go their separate ways. The appearance of a "Deep Night Harbor" makes people feel very sad.

A Farewell to Night is a poetic eulogy, which reflects the choice of ordinary people facing the fate of the times. However, the horror-like blanks and hints hidden at the end of the short film cast an extremely sad color on this parting. It also reflects the simplicity of feelings between people and the persistence of love in that era.

The fourth story, Return, was directed by teacher Yuan Heping. As an internationally renowned action director, Master Yuan did not choose the narrative framework of the action film, but took Kung Fu as the clue of the film and told a warm family story through regression.

Among them, the time when the granddaughter left was set to music by Mr. Zhang Weiwen's Farewell to Relatives, which brought a lot of emotion to people. In Yuan's view, the family is always full of contradictions and differences, especially the gap between the old and the young. Old people are always traditional and rigid, while young people are free and open.

However, if we understand and tolerate each other, all obstacles can be solved. Reunion is such a story about differences and reconciliation between relatives. The Return is also a story set in 1997 The Return of the Pearl.

The fifth story is "Peanut", directed by teacher Du Qifeng. This story tells the daydreams of three ordinary citizens in the big era before and after SARS in 2003. The three people often discuss investment plans and want to get rich overnight, but they always miss opportunities for development.

In fact, this story is difficult for our generation to understand, mainly because Hong Kong is the financial center of Asia, and folk stock trading is very active, and Du Qifeng is also a director.

Teacher Du Qifeng's narrative technique is still the same as that used in police suspense films, but it is not abrupt and realistic from this perspective, which may be related to Du Qifeng's personal experience in that year, so I won't say much. I'm interested in learning about it myself.

Arachis duranensis mainly shows the changes of the times in Hong Kong after the reunification, which is of great retrospective significance to the previous generation of Hong Kong people.

The sixth story, Lost, is directed by Lin Lingdong. This story mainly tells that the old man played by Yam Tat-wah finally returned to Hong Kong after many years in Britain, and was reunited with his wife and Lin Yuxuan's son played by Gong Cien. When he was reminiscing about the past on the streets of Hong Kong with old photos, the familiar landmark buildings were demolished, and he himself was lost in the high-rise Lin Yuzhong, and finally died in a bus collision.

Among them, there is his beautiful imagination after returning to his hometown, which mainly reflects a very realistic problem. Only when a person is old can he realize how important his hometown is. There is a saying that "there are many places better than Hong Kong".

But I don't feel this way about my hometown. "This story is based on the memory of the times, showing the great changes in the sea in Hong Kong over the past few decades and expressing infinite feelings about the changes of the times.

The seventh story, Deep Dialogue, was directed by Mr. Tsui Hark. Focusing on the future, Xu Laoguai thinks about the filmmaker's self-identity through a "special" dialogue: a mental hospital is conducting a research on schizophrenia.

The question of "Who am I?" The four participants threw themselves into selfless performances and mistakenly thought that they were many famous people in Hong Kong, which puzzled everyone and finally they couldn't tell their true identities.

Although the story is absurd and humorous, it seems out of place compared with previous stories, but it also satirizes a social phenomenon. Several people with different occupations look at each other and feel that each other is like a psychopath. Most people are mentally exhausted because of their unsatisfactory career or confusion about their future life, and they are also troubled by the question of "who am I?"

Ironically, the biggest problem of human nature is that you can't recognize yourself. We should also reflect. Do you recognize yourself? If you can't recognize yourself, how can you go on living? Therefore, the irony of deep dialogue is mainly human nature, which also makes the whole movie have a perfect curtain call.
