Kublai Khan destroyed the Southern Song Dynasty. Why didn't the Southern Song Dynasty mobilize troops to fight to the death on Hainan Island?

According to historical records, in the second year of Jing Yan of Song Duanzong (1277), Fuzhou fell. After Song Duanzong was demoted to Quanzhou in the Southern Song Dynasty, Zhang Shijie hijacked the boat and went to Guangdong. When Song Duanzong was preparing to flee to Leizhou, he met a typhoon unexpectedly and his boat capsized. Manager Duan almost drowned and got sick. Prime Minister Chen Jian suggested that Song Duanzong go to occupy the city (South Vietnam) and occupy the city himself, but the two kings called him back several times and never came back. Finally, he fled to Siam (Thailand) and died there. After Duanzong's death, Wang Wei Zhao Min, who was only 7 years old, succeeded to the throne and had an auspicious title. After Zhao Min ascended the throne, Lu Xiufu and Zhang Shijie escorted Zhao Min to Yashan, where they established a stronghold and prepared to continue to resist Yuan.

It can be seen that the Southern Song Dynasty really wanted to retreat to Leizhou Peninsula at that time, relying on Hainan Island (Qiongzhou) to resist, and if not, it would consider going to Vietnam, Thailand and other places to resist. Although Lu Xiufu threw Zhao Min's back and Zhang Shijie drowned, the Song people's last series of struggles and indomitable determination to resist foreign invasion are still worthy of our reverence.
