The history and culture of Valparaiso

In the golden age of Valparaiso (1848- 19 14), the city attracted a large number of immigrants from Europe, and the immigrant community brought a unique imprint to the city, which was particularly evident in the architectural style of the city. Each immigrant community has established its own church and school, while more immigrant communities have established other remarkable economic and cultural institutions. The largest immigrant communities come from Britain, Germany and Italy, and each immigrant community has established and developed its own residence on the hillside of the neighboring community, which can be seen from the national historical area (picas area) preserved today.

In the second half of the 20th century, Valparaiso experienced a great recession. Rich people moved out of the city center and moved to the bustling San Diego or neighboring Vi? a del Mar. By the early 1990s, a large number of unique heritages of the city had been lost, and many Chileans abandoned the city. But in the mid-1990s, a grassroots environmental movement flourished in Valparaiso.

The Valparaiso Foundation, established with the help of the North American poet Todd Tankin, participated in the restoration project of the city's main heritage. At the same time, the foundation also helped improve the city's tourist facilities and brought jazz, folk music and opera festivals to the city. Among these projects, the most striking basic projects are the application for world heritage and seaside theater and the construction of Chile's "cultural capital". Mr. Temkin also promoted the submission of many important policies through his influence in the Sunday column of the Valparaí so Herald (Spanish: El Mercurio de Valparaíso). For example, the National Assembly of Chile enacted the Valparaiso Law to ensure that the Chilean government provides financial support for the protection of Valparaiso's unique heritage ropeways and cable cars.

Valparaiso's newspaper Valparaiso Herald is also one of the oldest Spanish newspapers in the world.

The Lucas Renzo Paccino Foundation (Spanish: Lucas Renzo Peceny Nuo Foundation) retains the creative inspiration of painters and artists who symbolize the popular culture of Valparaiso, so that they can create in renovated buildings overlooking the bay.

Valparaiso is also home to the so-called Valparaiso School and the School of Municipal Architectural Design of Valparaiso Catholic University. In the 1960s and 1970s, this school was the most innovative and controversial architectural school in this country.

In 2003, the National Assembly of Chile declared Valparaiso as the "Cultural Capital" of Chile, and the Chilean Ministry of Culture subsequently moved to Valparaiso.

On the last three days of each year, Valparaiso holds a New Year's party attended by hundreds of residents, and the New Year's beach fireworks show pushes the festival to a climax. The party is the largest in Latin America. At most,/kloc-0.00 million tourists crowded the top of the mountain and the seashore of Valparaiso, overlooking the bay from their positions.

The National Assembly of Chile works in a modern building in Valparaiso, Spain. In the last years of dictator Augusto Pinochet's administration, the National Assembly passed a resolution to move from Santiago to Valparaiso. Legally speaking, the National Assembly should have moved to Valparaiso in 1987, but it was not completed until 1990 when the government of Patricio Alvin came to power.

Valparaiso's nightlife is considered the best in Chile. Because there are various bars and nightclubs in the port, it has become the most popular place for sailors and students. Among them, La Praia Bar near Sotomayor Square and Lapi Edera Felice, Vivo and Ingles Bar are the most popular. College students enjoy life in a large number of nightclubs, bars and dance halls. The lively tour guide Valparaiso can find the prototype in the novel by Caetano Buruli, while the private detective in the victory area can find the prototype in the painting Concepcion by Paasio Carlo Gervasoni.
