What is the history of Chen's surname?
According to the genealogy, after the Shang Dynasty was destroyed and the Zhou Dynasty was established, Shun's descendant "Chen Hu Gong Gui Man" was found, and he was sealed in Chen (now Huaiyang, Henan) to establish "Chen Guo". Hu Gongman spread to the tenth Sun Gui, and Chen was in civil strife. Gui, his son, was afraid of implicating himself, and fled to Qi State, taking the old country as his surname and renaming it Chen.
The migration and distribution of Chen's surname;
At the beginning of the Tang Dynasty, Chen's surname mainly came from Gushi, Henan Province, and his father and son led 58 surnames to Fujian via Jiangxi. Four generations of grandparents and grandchildren have been the chief executive of Zhangzhou, and later generations respectfully called Chen Yuanguang "the king of Zhang Kai".
Its descendants became Chen Zhupai in Fujian, Guangdong, Taiwan Province and Nanyang Islands. At the end of the Tang Dynasty, a large number of people from Gushi, Wang Jianli and Fujian, once again immigrated to Fujian. Since then, Chen has become the first surname in Southeast China.
Because Chen's main force had moved northward as early as the Qin and Han Dynasties, the war in the northern region of the Eastern Jin, Sui and Tang Dynasties did relatively little harm to Chen. Chen moved from Fujian to Chaozhou and Meizhou in Guangdong in the early Song Dynasty. At the end of the Northern Song Dynasty, Chen, a native of Henan, fled to Nanxiong, Guangdong, and moved from the north to all parts of Guangdong.
During the Song, Yuan and Ming Dynasties, Chen's surname developed steadily in the south, prospering in Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong and Hunan provinces, and finally formed a typical southern surname today.
Chen's surname is also integrated into the blood of the northern and southern nationalities, such as Xiongnu in Han and Jin Dynasties, Xianbei in Northern Wei Dynasty, Nuzhen in Jin Dynasty and Manchu Eight Banners in Qing Dynasty. After living with the Han nationality for a long time, these foreigners gradually assimilated into the Han nationality.
