Suona: Suona is bright in tone and loud in volume. The pipe is made of wood and has a conical shape. 2. The development history is different.
Horn: As early as 1877, Erenst Verner of Siemens Company of Germany obtained the patent of moving-coil horn according to Fleming's left-hand law. 1898, Sir Oliver Lodge of England further invented the conical horn according to the principle of telephone megaphone, which is very similar to the modern horn we are familiar with. Sir Lodge called it a "roaring phone".
Suona: Suona was introduced to China from Persia and Arabia in the 3rd century. During the Western Jin Dynasty, there was an image of playing suona in the murals of geisha music in Cave 38 of Qizil in Baicheng, Xinjiang. During the Jin and Yuan Dynasties, it spread to the Central Plains of China. It has been translated into suona, Pinna, Surnai, suona, suona and other names.
In the Ming Dynasty, suona was recorded in ancient books. Qi Jiguang, a military commander in Ming Dynasty, used suona in military music. He said in the Five Inscriptions of Ji Xiaoshu's Heart: "Whoever plays the trumpet is playing the suona."
3. Different timbres
Horn: The timbre lacks metallic feeling, so it is collectively called woodwind instrument, although many instruments have used metal, rubber and even synthetic materials as raw materials.
Suona: Suona has a loud pronunciation, which was used to accompany folk song blowing parties, yangko parties, drum music classes and local folk arts and operas. Through continuous development, it has enriched the playing skills and improved the expressive force, and has become a unique solo instrument, which is used for national band ensemble or opera, song and dance accompaniment.
