Does Singapore recognize China's master's degree in medicine?

If you study medicine in China, can you study abroad smoothly? Do foreign countries recognize China's medical qualification?

First of all, the truth may be far beyond the imagination of some students. Our country's medical diploma is recognized by many countries, but recognition does not mean that we are allowed to practice medicine in that country. Different countries, even different regions of the same country, have different requirements for non-national medical personnel who want to engage in the medical industry in that country:

1 Germany

Medical education in Germany is six years, and there is no preparatory course. If it comes out, it will be a master of medicine. German medical students can become doctors after passing the national examination and obtaining the qualification to practice medicine, unlike North America, where they have to study for eight years. Therefore, when reviewing domestic medical qualifications, it is required to achieve six years of medical education.

The problem is that the undergraduate education in China is a five-year program. Even if English and German classes in some medical colleges are added for one year, it is not considered as medical education time. So in theory, you have to finish your master's degree to make up for this year.

But this is only the premise, that is, the premise of applying for the German medical qualification examination (equivalent academic assessment). If it is an audit, it mainly depends on the length of study and the total time of practice in various subjects, and requires domestic medical qualifications. That is, a medical license.

Audit (equivalent assessment) results are divided into three types:

First, it is not qualified at all, so it is not qualified for the next step. I heard that medical students in Italy or other places were rejected. However, he took advantage of the loopholes required by different States, easily passed the exams in other States, and then came back to work in this state (although this loophole soon disappeared). States began to unify standards this year)

Second, ordinary foreign medical students, but mainly from European Union countries: if you think you have passed, there is nothing lacking (Defizit), and you can get medical qualification by passing the language test. This language test mainly examines patients' communication ability and general oral communication ability. The basic language is ok, just a little preparation. There are many real questions in the exam. If not, there are two other opportunities.

Third, the audit thinks that if you have Defizit, you must pass an exam to qualify. This exam is a bit troublesome. About internal and external pharmacology, toxicology and radiation emergency, the communication ability is mainly investigated. Oral examination, the main examination for university professors.

Of course, last but not least, the requirement for practicing medicine in Germany is B2.

2 Singapore

Singapore's requirements for foreign medical students are mainly divided into three categories:

First kind

Condition A: Graduated from Peking Union Medical College, Shanghai Medical College, Zhongshan Medical College, Huaxi Medical College, Shanghai Second Medical College, Wuhan University and Zhejiang University for eight years.

Condition B: English is up to standard, IELTS 7.0 and TOEFL are also feasible.

Condition C: China medical qualification.

Those who can meet the above three ABC conditions can apply to the Ministry of Health of Singapore.

The second category (non-eight-year graduates from the above eight universities)

Have a medical license in China, and have at least 3 years working experience (contract work) at or above the resident level in China, and the employer (dean or unit personnel office) shall provide relevant certificates. You can apply for employment in Singapore.

The applicant is not MOHH (Singapore Health Holding Company) (only responsible for the employment of 7-year and 8-year graduates from 8 medical schools), but MO(medicaloficer) from public hospitals in Singapore, such as,,, CGH, JRH and KTPH.

Application requirements:

A) graduated from a regular medical college (bachelor's degree, master's degree or doctor's degree is acceptable, not paying attention to one book and two books)

B) China has a medical practitioner's license (the registration period is not limited).

C) More than 3 years working experience at the resident level in China (work with contract, not counting master's degree and doctor's degree, resident rotation).

D) TOEFL is greater than 100.

If public hospitals in Singapore recruit you, you can stay in Singapore as a permanent MO for up to 4 years with a temporary license. The scope of work is to recruit your hospital. Within 4 years, you can formally register as a formal license practitioner by passing MRCP, MRCS, MRCOG, MRPCH, MRCPsych and other examinations.

The third category

After passing MRCP, MRCS, MRCOG, MRPCH, MRCPsych and other exams in China, you can go directly to Singapore for employment.

If you are really interested, you should look at the resources and check the website of the Ministry of Health in Singapore. This only provides a direction to show that it is possible to do so.

3 Japan

China's bachelor's degree in clinical medicine is recognized by Japan, but his master's degree is not recognized (probably because of the chaotic academic system of graduate students in China).

Tell me about the Japanese license here:

Because the undergraduate education of clinical medicine in Japan is a six-year program, while most universities in China are five-year, it is necessary to pass the language barrier and pass the Japanese level to take the license preparation examination in Japan.

Pre-examination includes written examination, clinical skill operation, consultation and interview. After passing the preparatory examination, I will have a one-year clinical internship in a qualified hospital (equivalent to a domestic third-class first-class hospital). It is legal to practice medicine during this period, but it needs the guidance of a superior doctor.

A year later, they will take the formal license examination, referred to as "National Examination", just like Japanese students. If you get a license after passing, you will be a real doctor, but you will have to receive two years of standardized training for residents. Undergraduate clinical education for 6 years, can be exempted from preparatory examination and one-year clinical practice, can directly take the formal examination, after obtaining a license can directly take the formal examination.

Some medical colleges in China have six-year undergraduate courses, such as English courses for mountain doctors. Japan is probably the easiest and quickest way to practice medicine abroad, but because of language problems, there is obviously no fire in North America or Australia. It's ok to get a license. Whether you can pass depends on your ability. Whether you can find a good job after that depends on your skill+luck.

4 America

Because medical students who graduate every year can't meet the needs of hospitals and society, the United States, as an immigrant country, welcomes medical students to apply for American medical examinations and practice medicine locally.

Most of the bachelor's degrees in medical schools in China are recognized by the United States, so the rest is to take the American Medical Practitioner Examination (USMLE) and participate in the National Resident Recruitment (match) which starts in September every year after graduation.

USMLE is divided into step 1 (basic knowledge, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, pathology and microbiology, etc. ), step2 CK (clinical knowledge, internal and external women and children's spirit, etc. ) and step2 CS (similar to multi-station inspection, asking about medical history and writing medical records). Among them, 1 and CK can be tested in Beishangguang, and CS can only be tested in the United States.

Then you need to take part in the competition. If you are selected by the hospital, you can get a doctor's qualification certificate after three years of residency training.

Seeing this, many students couldn't help crying: young people don't work hard, but old people are sad. It turns out that foreign medical circles are not so difficult to enter. What is really difficult is the language.

So, for the rest of your life, you know!
