Pengze’s Songyang people

I met a person who spoke with an accent similar to ours. He claimed that his hometown was Songyang, Anhui, and he now lives in Pengze County, Jiangxi.

I am confused, could it be Pengze County who married into my wife? I heard that this is not the case. I have lived in Pengze since I was a child. This is a bit confusing.

He said that the people in their village were all from Songyang, and they still spoke the Songyang dialect. According to him, their ancestors fled from Songyang to Pengze County because of the flood in 1954. After hard work, they settled here.

After asking Du Niang, I found out that it was indeed true.
