Ishida Shiro was a soldier of the Japanese invaders. Under normal circumstances, he could go back to Japan with a large army, but he was left at home because of serious injuries. China people are full of hatred for Japanese soldiers, but they can't do anything drastic for the disabled soldiers who surrender. Therefore, Ishida Shiro was not punished in China.

Seriously injured and hungry, Ishida Shiro came to a small village and asked the people of China for help. Fortunately, China compatriots didn't kill him, let alone help him. Ishida Shiro can't speak Mandarin, so he can only kowtow to passers-by for help.

Just as he was about to hold on, he met Sun Bangjun, the rescuer. When Sun Bangjun met Ishida Shiro, Ishida Shiro had no strength to beg. Sun Bangjun took Ishida Shiro home despite the dissuasion of people around him. Sun Bangjun didn't want to take in a wicked man, but seeing that he was covered in scars, he didn't hold back. Instead, he took in Ishida Shiro.

Sun Bangjun's family is poor. For Ishida Shiro, he lent money to treat him everywhere. After his illness, Shiro Ishida came to the field to help Sun Bangjun do farm work. Gradually, the villagers began to accept such a person. Before he died, Sun Bangjun thought he could send Ishida Shiro back to Japan and left this last wish to his son.

After the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Japan, Sun Bangjun's son went to the Japanese Embassy to find relatives for Ishida Shiro. Soon after, Ishida Shiro's family found China and took him home. The news spread to Japan, causing widespread concern. Ishida Shiro and his family thanked their grandson on various occasions and invited Sun Bangjun's son to visit Japan. And the Ishida Shiro Rescue Association was established, which greatly promoted the friendly exchanges between China and Japan.

Although Sun Bangjun passed away, his wish came true.
