Spouse work visa
Applying for a spouse category work visa must provide
a valid passport. If the passport cannot be submitted, please provide the birth certificate and ID card.
Complete and signed Visit Visa Application Form (NZIS1015) and Supplementary Form for Chinese Citizens to Visit, Study and Work in New Zealand (NZIS1027).
A recent passport photo of the applicant.
Application fee.
Proof of funds required for the applicant’s stay in New Zealand.
Their entry visa chest X-ray form or physical examination and chest X-ray form (if applicable).
Notarized certificate of no criminal offense (if applicable).
Please note: If any of the above items are missing, the application materials will be returned.
Supporting documents
Copies of ID card and temporary residence permit (if applicable).
The original household registration book or a notarized copy of the household registration book.
Notarized certificate of affiliation (must have English translation), all immediate relatives (parents, brothers and sisters, spouse, children), regardless of country and place of residence, should be included in the notarized certificate.
A written letter of support from your New Zealand spouse for your application.
Provide materials to prove that the time you are applying to stay in New Zealand is also the time your New Zealand spouse wants to stay in New Zealand.
Materials proving that you and your New Zealand spouse live together and have a real and stable relationship, such as: marriage certificate, ***same property or ***shared bank account, ***same income , all group photos, and all correspondence and phone bills, etc. Please note that it is the applicant's obligation to provide evidence of true stability.
If you or your New Zealand spouse are unmarried, both parties must provide a certificate of unmarried status. If you or your New Zealand spouse have been divorced, both parties must provide a divorce certificate or divorce legal document to prove that you and your spouse can legally remarry; the New Zealand spouse may be required to provide a "No impediment to" certificate issued by the New Zealand Ministry of Home Affairs. Marriage/Certificate of Search” certificate.
If you have children applying with you, your children can apply for a New Zealand visit visa or student visa.
Include in this application the child’s birth certificate, custody notarization and the other parent’s signed certificate of consent for the child to apply for a New Zealand visa (if applicable).
Any other materials that you think can prove that you qualify for the "Spouse Category Visit Visa".
Other requirements
To apply for a spouse category visit visa, you must:
a. Be at least 18 years old. If you are 16 or 17 years old, you must have both parents. A signed consent form expresses support for the application.
b. Meet the New Zealand spouse before submitting the application.
c. You and your New Zealand spouse cannot be close relatives.
Submit a completed and signed "Form for partners supporting partnership-based temporary entry applications" (NZIS 1146).
The New Zealand spouse (New Zealand citizen or permanent resident) must be eligible to sponsor under the Spouse Policy. New Zealand spouses (New Zealand citizens or permanent residents) will not be eligible for sponsorship if they fall into any of the following situations:
a. Have supported or sponsored more than one applicant as the main applicant under the spouse policy have obtained a spouse visa as a person; or
b. In the 5 years before submitting this application, you have supported or sponsored another person to obtain a spouse visa as the main applicant under the spouse policy.
c. Be the perpetrator of domestic violence, which resulted in the original spouse (victim) successfully obtaining New Zealand permanent resident status; or
d. Have ever obtained the status as the main applicant Spouse visa, and
i. It has been less than 5 years since the first “resident permit” was obtained under the spousal policy; or
ii. Once supported or sponsored under the spousal policy Someone else has been granted a partner visa as the main applicant.
New Zealand Immigration reserves the right to request additional materials during the visa application process and will store all information and materials in files.
We will evaluate whether you are a genuine visitor. Once a decision is made, the applicant does not have the right to appeal.
After the application is completed, the notarial certificate will not be returned. (If we need to return the notarial certificate, a copy must be submitted together with the visa application. Otherwise, the notarial certificate will not be returned.)
All Chinese materials must have English translations.
If the applicant provides false or misleading information, the application may be rejected.
The processing time for visa applications is approximately 30 days. If the applicant does not provide all required documents, the application processing time will be extended. Please do not purchase a ticket before obtaining a visa.
Once a visa is issued, it will not be extended. Applicants must enter the country within the validity period of their visa. Otherwise, the applicant needs to resubmit the application.
Applicants must leave New Zealand before the visa expires, otherwise they may be deported.
