The three major groups in Guangdong are as follows. First, Guangfu people in the Pearl River Delta, mainly descendants of Qin people-Shanxi, Shaanxi, Hebei, Gansu and Henan people in the Yellow River valley; second, Chaoshan people, mainly adherents and descendants of Chu; Thirdly, Hakkas migrated from the Yellow River Basin. On the whole, the Han nationality is a mixture of powerful nomadic peoples originating from the Mongolian Plateau and its surrounding areas. Guangdong people are no exception. The last intersection with Cantonese people was in the 30 years of reform and opening up.
