What are the A 1 English Test and the British A 1 English Test, and what are their contents?

A 1 is not an English test, but an English proficiency test in Britain. The British Immigration Service divides English proficiency into six levels: A 1, A2, B 1, B2, C 1 and C2. A 1 is the lowest and C2 is the highest. A 1 is an English proficiency requirement for ordinary immigrants, which is basically defined as being able to communicate with English natives in a simple way, and to understand some necessary life terms and understand them. Therefore, at present, immigrants applying for British spouse visa (for academic purposes) need to reach the English level of the so-called British A 1.
