What exams do I need to take to go to the United States for graduate business studies?

1. Basic Language Test

Overseas universities basically have language testing requirements. American universities generally recognize TOEFL scores. Although many universities now recognize IELTS scores, there are still quite a few universities that do not.

2. Entrance examination

The postgraduate entrance examination in the United States is what we often call GRE and GMAT. Among them, GMAT is a compulsory item for American business applicants, and this test score is a direct indicator for schools to measure whether applicants are suitable for business majors. Some schools also accept GRE scores. If you want to apply for GRE, you must confirm it in official website.

GMAT has four parts, namely analytical writing, comprehensive reasoning, quantitative reasoning and textual logical reasoning. The score of GMAT is ***800, and the applicant's score is higher than 700, which will be very competitive for schools applying for TOP 100.

We often refer to GRE and TOEFL as GT scores. When other conditions of applicants are similar, GT scores become an important criterion for school selection. The higher the score, the greater the chance of getting an Offer.

3. Undergraduate GPA

The GPA of undergraduate course is an index to measure the applicant's learning level. For American business majors, GPA3.0 is generally the lowest line required by most majors. If it is lower than 3.0, it needs to be made up by other aspects. The minimum requirement is not the same as admission. Applicants from TOP 100 colleges in the United States often have to get a GPA of 3.5 or above to have an advantage. Excellent GPA requires applicants to prepare well in advance, especially the courses related to the applied major.

4. Application materials

The application materials required to apply for a master's degree in business in the United States mainly include graduation certificate, degree certificate, report card, proof of funds, etc. Generally, two sets of transcripts are required, one set of graduation certificate and one set of degree certificate (one in Chinese and one in English) are sealed in an envelope and stamped with the seal of the school.

5.PS (personal statement), CV (resume) and recommendation letter

In addition to various test scores and GPA, the PS, CV and recommendation letter submitted at the time of application are the ways for the school to understand the comprehensive quality of the applicant in all aspects, and should be filled in carefully. Among them, CV contains not only personal basic information such as name and address, but also detailed information such as educational experience, school activity experience and personal skills and hobbies. Should be truthfully filled in, as far as possible to show its competitive advantage.

Letter of recommendation can be divided into two types: online push and paper push. References can be teachers, employers, etc. Excellent references and letters of recommendation can also increase the competitiveness of applicants. In the recommendation letter, you should write the relationship between the recommender and the applicant, the time and degree of understanding, and the applicant's advantages, academic ability and research ability, so as to facilitate the school to understand.

6. Work experience and internship experience

Work experience is very important for American business applicants. If you are a fresh graduate, you'd better have 2-3 good internship experiences, such as banks and accounting firms.
