At the beginning of liberation, Wudang Mountain was fourth area of Xun County, and 1956 was changed to Caodian District, 1958 was changed to Caodian Commune, and 1960 was restored to Caodian District, which governed eight communes.

During the period of 1968, three communes, Han Zhuang, Shibantan and Caodian, were flooded due to the impoundment of Danjiangkou Reservoir, and the immigrants moved out, and the site was moved from Caodian to Laoying. 1975, Shijiazhuang Brigade under the jurisdiction of Liu Liping was included and renamed Caodian Commune; 1980 was renamed Laoying Commune.

1984 was renamed Wudang Mountain Town. In order to strengthen the management of scenic spots, Dawan Village, Doufugou Village and Wulonggong Village in Yanchihe Township are included, and Lujia Village Village in Liu Liping Town is included in the management of Wudang Mountain Forest Farm.

Wudang Mountain Town merged with Wudang Mountain Scenic Area Administration at the beginning of 1985 and separated at the end of 1986. 1993 65438+February, the bureau and town merged for the second time and changed its name to Wudang Mountain Bureau (town).

On June 17, 2003, Hubei Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government held a site meeting in Wudang Mountain. It is clear that Wudang Mountain Tourism Special Economic Zone gives the people's government at the county level independent management functions and authority and implements closed management on the premise of maintaining the existing administrative divisions. The Wudang Mountain Special Economic Zone Working Committee and the Special Economic Zone Management Committee were established, which were dispatched by the Shiyan Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government respectively and co-located with the Wudang Mountain Scenic Area Administration.
