Thoughts on Jia's films

The first time I got to know Jia was because there was a class on film analysis in the university professional class. The teacher said that Jia was one of the representatives of the sixth generation directors, including The Good Man of the Three Gorges and The Roadside Picnic.

? After class that day, I went back to the dormitory, opened the tablet and prepared to watch the roadside picnic. After watching it for less than five minutes, I changed to other better movies. Watching movies while eating must be accompanied by movies that can be watched without thinking.

I didn't know Jia at that time, so I couldn't watch his films with strong documentary style.

? Now I like Jia's films inexplicably, and I seem to have some understanding of what his films express.

The first movie I saw was mountains may depart. What impressed me deeply was that the proportion of pictures in the front and back of the film was different. The front part is somewhat similar to the foreground of the story, which takes place in their hometown. To put it simply, this story is about a woman and two men. They were childhood friends. Tao, the heroine, chose the more humorous Jinsheng, while the more upright and stubborn one left her hometown. But in the end, Tao and Jinsheng divorced, and their son went to Le and followed Jinsheng from Shanghai to Australia. My son has only one fucking key and can't even speak Chinese. To tell the truth, this film contains a lot of things. Personally, my feelings are as follows:

1. expresses the loneliness of life, the estrangement and incomprehension between people. At the beginning of the film, the heroine Tao dances with a group of people, and people come and go around. In the film, it was arranged to divorce her husband, her son went abroad and her father died. At the end of the film, the heroine dances alone in front of the tower, which seems to symbolize a lonely waiting image.

? 2. Expressed the impermanence of life. The woman chose Jinsheng, but in the end they divorced and the woman finally returned to her hometown. Liang Zi chose to leave his hometown, but in the end he fell ill and returned to his hometown. Jinsheng came to Australia, far away from home, and he couldn't come back if he wanted to.

? 3. The speed of urban and rural development is not harmonious with the speed of people's physical and mental development. Jinsheng followed the footsteps of the times, left his hometown and came to the bustling Shanghai. Finally, he came to Australia because he escaped from debt. Although I live in a luxurious house, the table is still fenjiu in Shanxi, and I speak Shanxi dialect. It can be seen that he is not in harmony with modernization.

? 4. The hardship of the fate of the people at the bottom. Stubborn and unwilling to change, Liang Zi eventually became a coal miner and did not escape the ordeal of fate. He got a bad lung disease and had to go back to his hometown.

The second movie I watched was Xiao Wu. "Xiao Wu Can" can be said to be my favorite among several movies I have seen so far. Xiaowu is a shameful thief under modern moral standards. Jia Dao's expression of social changes through this character image can be said to be unique. The film mainly tells the story that Xiaowu was frustrated in friendship, love and affection, and finally went to the abyss. Xiaowu is not a good man in the traditional sense, but after watching the movie, I feel that he is not an out-and-out bad man. Every time he steals someone's wallet, he will return his ID card, which is not bad at all. Xiaowu can be every one of us except the identity of a thief. Because of his own conditions, he felt inferior and sensitive, refused to change his inherent ideas in the trend of the times, and could not adapt to the development of society. However, in my opinion, he is sincere, kind and loyal. He didn't want to hide his past. He treats feelings seriously and single-mindedly. Just as Jia Dao's last "show to the public" shot wanted to express, he can be the object we watch, but sometimes he is ourselves.

The third movie is The Three Gorges Good Man. The picture sense of this film is handled very well. I like the performance of the Three Gorges landscape in the camera. Of course, there are ruins on one side and new towns on the other. This kind of lens processing also expresses some ideas of the director. The film mainly tells the story of a man looking for his ex-wife and a woman looking for her husband. A man's wife was sold to Shanxi from the Three Gorges, but after their reunion, we can deeply feel this sincere feeling. The story of a woman looking for a man ends with a man changing his mind. Comparing these two stories, people have feelings when they are poor and forget when they are rich. The film is based on the great era, the construction of the Three Gorges Project and the great migration of immigrants, showing the sadness of the little people. It's ironic that rich people can turn on all the lights on the bridge at the command.

The last one is Jianghu children. This belongs to one I don't know very well. I always feel that these two people clearly love each other but don't want to admit it. Jianghu pays attention to loyalty, but with the development of the times, many people pay attention to rules and hierarchies. Although the times are progressing, people become indifferent without that kind of friendship.

I've only seen these once, and I still can't see much. Generally speaking, I like the documentary style, the calm performance of the actors, the use of long shots, the use of background music, surreal expressions and so on in Jia's films. I like the director's attention to the bottom people, the description of the fate of characters under the changes of the times, the attention to marginal people and the writing of people's emotions. Many of them like it very much.
