The origin of Hakka

There are not many theories about the origin of the word Hakka. One is the "guest-giving system" originated from the Eastern Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties and the "guest-giving system" in the Tang and Song Dynasties. The first theory originated from the appellation of immigrants from Hui, Chao, Jia, Ting and Jiangxi (who were already natives in the border areas of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi at that time) in western Guangdong in the early Qing Dynasty. Hakkas are an important group and have lived in southern China for more than 2,000 years since the Qin Dynasty.
