Conditions for nurses from Chinese mainland to work in the United States

First, the basic requirements for nurses

There are several basic requirements for being a nurse in America. Including:

1, education requirements: nursing graduates from medical colleges (equivalent to technical secondary school or above in China).

2. Have a valid nurse certificate in your own country.

3. Work experience (general practice, generally not less than two years).

4. Pass the CGFNS exam.

5. Meet the visa application qualification in the United States, if there is no criminal record.

In addition, immigrant medical staff must show their ability in spoken and written English, that is, get appropriate grades in one or more exams recognized by the United States. Foreign nurses applying for visa screening procedures must choose the following methods to meet these requirements.

Take the following three exams organized by ETS:

TOEFL, 540 or above.

TSE (spoken English) test, with a score of 50 or above.

TWE (written English) test, with a score of 4.0 or above.

After meeting the above conditions, you can enter the visa procedure.

Second, the license.

To work as a registered nurse in the United States, you must obtain a license in the state where you plan to work. The original license was issued when you passed the NCLEX-RN exam. Once you have passed the NCLEX-RN exam and obtained a license in one state, you can apply to other states through the so-called accreditation procedure.

The NCLEX-RN exam is to ensure that every nurse has knowledge, and a novice registered nurse needs to practice safely. Many nurses in other countries take knowledge tests to test what knowledge you have mastered. However, the NCLEX-RN exam is an application-based exam. The NCLEX-RN exam organized with the help of CAT uses the standard NCLEX-RN exam form and adopts multiple-choice questions. In CAT, each candidate's exam questions are different: they are arranged interactively with the reference staff. When the examinee answers each question, the computer will make a competency assessment based on all the previous answers. CAT's evaluation is very efficient because it uses the questions that can best test candidates' ability.

The process of preparing for the exam includes self-directed family study and school lectures. Don't take it lightly, you must complete all the materials provided to ensure that you have enough practice.

Third, visas.

To work in the United States, all foreigners must obtain a visa issued by the US Immigration and Naturalization Service.

Most nurses working in the United States through our company hold what is commonly called a "green card". It allows you to work in the United States for any length of time as a permanent resident of the United States. The whole process of applying for a "green card" takes 8 months to one year to complete.

"Green card" is especially important for married applicants. The company only guarantees the "green card" for nurses, but the spouse of the nurse and any children under 2 1 year old will automatically be eligible to apply for the "green card". All "green card" holders can legally

Working in America.

first step

For those who wish to immigrate to the United States, the Immigration and Naturalization Bureau must first approve the application for immigrant visa (I- 140 form, application form for foreign workers). American companies act as guarantors (or applicants) for nurses (or beneficiaries).

Note: American immigration law currently requires that medical professionals, except doctors, must go through screening procedures before applying for work visas. The visa screening program provided by the International Health Care Industry Council, a subsidiary of CGFNS, enables health care professionals to meet this requirement by verifying and evaluating their certificates.

The length of time to obtain the certificate of visa review procedure varies. Applicants should fill in the application immediately after their I- 140 form is sent to the Immigration and Naturalization Bureau. When you go to the consulate for the final visa interview, you need to show your certificate, so having a certificate for a long time before the interview will help relieve some of your stress.

Second step

After the I- 140 form is sent to the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization, it may take 3 to 6 months or even longer to be approved.

Third step

Within a few weeks after the I- 140 form is approved, you will receive the form and instructions from the National Visa Center. We must respond to this as soon as possible. American companies will help applicants complete these final forms. As soon as these forms are submitted to the consulate, they will receive instructions for physical examination and fingerprinting, which are necessary for working in the United States. Please note that the waiting time for completing these procedures varies greatly from consulate to consulate.

Fourth step

The last step is the interview at the consulate. American companies will tell applicants how the interview is generally conducted, and they may ask them what questions and what documents they need to bring. After getting the visa, you can get ready to leave.
